Taking care of your health is one of the most important (and also most popular, thank God) decisions that people made for this year. Not only did they start exercising more than ever, but they also decided to go to the doctor’s for regular checkups more often than before. However, being healthy is not only exercising and paying attention to your organs and the way your skin looks. What about your mouth and your teeth? Bad teeth and poor mouth hygiene does not only affect your overall health (which means it can create more problems in the future with other organs), but it can also make your whole appearance and your smile aesthetically unpleasing.

So, what are the five ways in which you can pay attention to your dental health? Are there some procedures to have in mind?

Braces

This might not be something that you think you need in your thirties, but sometimes it’s better to opt for braces regardless of your age than by changing them completely in ten or twenty years. Braces are there not only to fix how your teeth are lining up, but they are also important if you are, for example, grinding them during the night. If you do that, make sure to see your dentist and check with them if you need braces or if there is any other way to prevent your teeth from decaying and wearing them off.

Teeth Whitening

The first thing that comes to everyone’s mind is teeth whitening. Why should you opt for this in your thirties? First of all, due to the fact that you had numerous cups of coffee in your twenties, and smoked many cigarettes (kudos to you if you haven’t), your teeth are probably stained. Opting for a teeth whitening procedure will solve this problem – to a certain extent that is. You cannot expect to have white teeth after only one treatment, of course. This is why the best option would be to talk to your dentist about the real expectation, if you want to undergo this procedure. You can also try and whiten your teeth at home as it is cheaper, but the results will not be as good as opting for a professional procedure.

Dental Implants

Depending on the state of your teeth, you might be in need of some dental implants, which is quite a normal thing after you hit 30. Due to many different reasons, our teeth decay as well, so it’s important to always take care of them. The good thing is that technology is constantly evolving, so there are new ways in which you can get your implants. Opting, for example, for the very effective all on 4 dental implants is just one way in which you can test new technologies and also work on your teeth. This is a great way to rehabilitate your whole arch by using only 4 dental implants. Of course, you can always ask your dentist about their opinion on the matter, and then find the best people for the procedure.

Good Dental Hygiene

This is not an actual procedure per se, but it is very important to know how to properly take care of your teeth, as many people fail to do so correctly. Namely, make sure that you clean your teeth at least twice a day (in the morning when you wake up and before you go to sleep), but if you have time to wash them after lunch, even better. Also, if you don’t want any cavities (especially if your teeth are overlapping), you need to floss them every day– especially after each meal.

Meditate

You might think this is ridiculous for your dental health, but trust us, it’s not. You don’t have to meditate per se, but make sure to find another way to get rid of stress. Stress is a very common problem in our thirties, and it can definitely affect our teeth. Due to stress and anxiety, we tend to grind our teeth, thus damaging them. Make sure to go to your dentist to check if you have any signs of damaged teeth so that you know what to do next. Sometimes this might require some new fillings or crowns, but all of this is a small price to pay for healthy teeth.

Taking care of your teeth is always important, not only when you’re a kid and a teenager. Healthy teeth are probably one of the biggest riches of our body, so let’s all pay special attention to them.
