Are you a morning person? You know, waking up early….. doing yoga or sipping your tea while the sun rises. Waking up early isn’t necessarily easy for everyone, it’s simple just need “a few more minutes” of sleep which turns into hour. Next thing you’re rushing around trying to get out of the door on time, that’s all kinds of anxiety to start your day.
Waking up early means you have the whole day ahead of you to get everything done, sleeping in wastes a good part of the day. Do you struggle getting out of bed in the morning? Try these habits to start your day off on a positive note!
Get Into A Routine
Decide what time you want to wake up each day then be consistent, staying in a routine will not only help your mind adjust to waking up but also your body. Know about your internal clock? By consistently rising at the same time each day, your body will actually wake itself up due to its internal rhythm.
Ditch The Snooze Button
The snooze button is a black hole, how many times have you pressed the button, then ended up either rushing around late? When your alarm goes off, just get up out of bed. If you use your iPhone as your alarm disable the snooze button and set your phone across the other side of the room forcing yourself out of bed to turn it off.
Okay, this one might be a stretch for some of you but nothing wakes you up more than morning exercise. Whether is yoga, pilates or going for walk just start exercising in the morning. Sometimes you will need to push yourself, it’s always worth it though, the movement will leave you feeling energized.
Feel more awake by listening to music while showering and getting ready. Maybe you can’t listen to it at a loud volume because you’re not the only one home, but you get the idea.
Shower every single morning, not only will you feel fresh & clean for the day ahead, it helps you to feel even more awake. If you struggle to wake up in the morning, a shower will fix that feeling. Showering then blowdrying your hair isn’t necessarily one of the things most of us want to do in the morning, but styling your hair the night before never really works out.
Make Your Bed
Making your bed each morning, is starting the day off fresh and new. Seeing that your bed is crisply made while you’re getting ready, means you are less likely to want to crawl back into it. And remember your bed will be so much cozier that evening when you climb back in if it’s been made.
Nourish Your Body
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, it doesn’t have to be anything gourmet but your body needs to be replenished and nourished. Try some steel cut oats with greek yogurt and fruit or a couple boiled eggs with grilled tomatoes to keep your stomach satisfied till lunch.
Calm Your Mind
Having a calm mind in the morning leads into having a successful day. What calms your mind? Weave that into your morning routine, even if only for a few minutes, it will help you focus. The beginning of your day impacts the rest of the time stretching till evening, like a chain reaction. Routine, mindfulness and a positive attitude can help energize you to accomplish all you need in the day ahead.
