A Long Weekend In Paris

Late last year we found ourselves with one weekend to spare before the start of the merry – go – round which is “The Holidays”, in our crazy busy life that does not happen very often. The City of Lights – Paris was decided on, well more precisely I decided on Paris and my husband agreed. We stayed in a superb Apartment Hotel, Citadines Suites Louvre in the 1st Arrisdosement next to the Palais Royale and amazingly close to the Louvre. On our first day we did some serious walking. We started out at our hotel and walked over to the 6th Arrondissement, I have penchant for Vintage Clothing, Silver, Crystal and Furniture. Which I am very happy to say, my husband shares.

After lots of window shopping along the way and a stop at fabulous Wine Store – my husband’s great passion- we arrived at Les Trois Maches & Catherine B on rue Guisarde #1 & #3. Two extraordinary petite shops, #1 is a treasure trove of shelf after shelf of Vintage Chanel and Hermes Handbags, Scarves and Belts whilst #3 is even more heavenly also filled with Chanel boucle jackets, towering stacks of perfect silk scarves in every color combination you can imagine and stunning glinting vintage Chanel jewels.

Musee D`Orsay is an amazing way to spend your afternoon admiring the absolutely amazing art showcased in which was originally a train station turned glorious museum. On our way back to our hotel we ventured into the Gabrielle Geppert boutiques at Galerie Montpensier Jardins Du Palais Royal, Gabrielle has 2 stores only steps away from each other. Fabulous vintage furs, dresses and the deriegeiur Chanel and Hermes handbags. Gabrielle is the most engaging woman and despite my very limited French was warm, welcoming and full of advice on purchasing Vintage items while in Paris. Also a designer in her own right, she displays her own collection of stunning pieces. We wandered through the picturesque Palais Royal gazing through all the boutique windows.

The Louvre beckoned us on Sunday so we spent most of the day wandering the expansive halls gazing at the magnificent Masterpieces, resplendent treasures of France along with artifacts and objects collected from throughout the World. After leaving the Louvre we visited Didier Ludot store at the Galerie Montpensier Jardins Du Palais Royal location, stunning inventory of vintage pieces. The Eiffel Tower was our destination on the last day in Paris; it was our daughter’s first visit to the icon. J`Y Troque, 7 rue Villedo, was our stop, whilst leisurely strolling back to our hotel. Tucked away in a charming space it is filled with designer shoes, clothing, furs and accessories – Isabel Marant, Givenchy, YSL and Chanel just to mention a few. Lovely friendly staff with plenty of guidance to acquiring Vintage articles in Paris.
