Citrus Aurantifolia or Lime is an essential oil which is extracted by cold compression of fresh lime peels or by steam distillation of its dried peels. Lime essential oil can cure infections, protect against their development, and also contains antiseptic properties. Did you know it can actually prevent tetanus if wounded by an item made of iron?
When topically applied lime oil can cure infections like sores, gangrene, psoriasis, ulcers, rashes, carbuncles and other similar issues. Consuming lime oil effectively helps to cure infections of the throat, mouth, colon, stomach, intestines and urinary system. Even viral infections of the respiratory system and bronchitis respond well to lime oil and it’s also effective in fighting other viral infections such as flu, mumps, coughs, colds, and measles.
As Lime Oil is astringent, it helps to cure toothaches and strengthen the grip of gums on the teeth while it tightens loose muscles and gives a feeling of firmness, fitness and youth. One of the most important benefits of astringents is the ability to stop hemorrhaging by contracting blood vessels. Apart from having medicinal properties, it’s also an antidepressant and anti arthritic substance which reduces pain in the muscles and joints.
The smell of lime oil makes the mouth water, activating the secretion of digestive juices into the stomach before you even starts eating and increases your hunger and appetite. When taken internally it can be used in the treatment of food poisoning, diarrhea, typhoid, and cholera.
When applied externally, it can also be used in a diluted state for applying on the scalp which will protect hair from various infections like lice and also strengthen it so it won’t fall out prematurely.
*Note – In very rare cases, Lime oil may cause photosensitivity if exposed to strong sun directly after topical application.
